There are so many reasons why you must travel alone once in your life. Besides that, there are also a lot of reasons that hinder you to travel alone. Among these reasons, I wrote up this article that is all about why you should not travel alone. Why? Why do you travel alone? What urges you to travel to do that? Aren’t you afraid of it?
These are the usual questions that I get from people whenever they find out that I often travel alone. To be honest, I can’t answer those types of questions. One thing is for sure, traveling makes me feel complete! It makes me a better person.
Reasons why you should not travel alone
You love to rely on the people around you.
One of the reasons why you think that you are not ready to travel alone yet is you love to be with people around you. You tend to depend on them. You are being used to being together with them as well which makes you feel quite difficult to do things on your own.
Sure, it is always fun to be with them doing the things you love! It feels like doing something alone is impossible. You tend to think that it is always better to do things with other people. For some reason, you feel anxious about making decisions on your own. You can’t stand being alone for a long time. You adore hanging out with the people around you most of the time.
More to that, you feel most comfortable and tend to think that everything is well because you are with them. When you travel together, there is no need for you to worry about things (like shampoo, soap, and other stuff). There is always someone beside you to provide these kinds of things for you. Well, that’s the funny thing about traveling with people with who are you close. When you travel alone, you can’t rely on other people but on yourself. You can’t be with your family, friends, or loved ones. There is nothing that you can do but to do everything by yourself. You don’t have any choice but to make choices and have to go on your way. In this case, you tend to become an independent person. Traveling alone teaches you to become the type of person who is self-reliant.
Being alone is not your thing.
You are the type of person who hates being alone. It feels like being alone is being lonely and you might get judged by other people. You don’t like the idea of getting recognized by them it is because you look lonely. Besides that, you sometimes think that there is nobody whom you can rely on and you are afraid of it. The thing is, you don’t see the realm of traveling alone. This is something that you must do once in your life. But, why? Traveling solo teaches you to appreciate being alone. You will start to enjoy life. You tend to realize that you do not need to be with anybody at all times in order for you to feel complete.
It widens your perspective in life. You will see yourself enjoying your own company. It enables you to do everything all by yourself. Traveling solo gives you the absolute sheer of freedom. You get to fall in love with yourself more. More to that, you tend to meet other people who’ll turn into your instant friends! You become aware of the fact that you can make great friendships out of traveling solo.
Stepping out of the comfort zone is never easy.

Furthermore, you are not afraid to take risks anymore. You start making plans according to your will. You start checking out those travel destinations. Those places you have ever dreamed of visiting!
Thinking you can’t do it!
There wasn’t a time that you thought about traveling solo. You haven’t considered doing it alone because of the danger that it follows. Those crimes and unfortunate events that add to the reasons why you do not want to travel alone.
Despite all the negativity, there is something within you that urges you to travel alone once in a while. But, you always think it is difficult and impossible to happen! You don’t have enough guts to do it all by yourself. There are so many questions on your mind. There are too many “What ifs”. “What if I got lost?”, “What if I got stranded?” or “What if my plan didn’t go as I planned?”. These could be some of the questions that have been running on your mind which makes you hesitate to travel.
But, you can only answer your “what ifs” if you make your first move. Why not try to book a flight first? Visit an unfamiliar place and meet the locals you haven’t met before, and see how far you can go?
You’re not ready to see the world, yet!
With all the bad things happening around us, going out or even going further is such a difficult thing to do. You tend to think about the bad possibilities that might happen to you along the way. But, it’s part of your journey. When you travel, it doesn’t always happen the things the way you want it to be. There are always misfortunes and misadventures along with great adventures. But, what’s the best part of it? When your misadventures turn to great experiences, amazing stories, and wonderful unforgettable memories.
Good or bad, everything that happens to you will forever remain in your heart. Furthermore, you will realize that when you go to another place, you are not the same person anymore. It is either you grow or you become happier! Once in a lifetime, you need to see the other corners of the world. You do not need millions of bucks to travel. There are so many ways to travel and you can always do it in your ways.
Traveling alone might not be an easy thing to do and it might take time for you to do it, but it is not yet too late. It’s time for you to take a break from your routine lifestyle and start making a new difference. Challenge yourself to be different! Start traveling solo! I assure you, it will widen your horizon.
